Give Me Inspiration!

So, here I am, sitting cross-legged on my bed, typing this out right now, with my iPod in, and a magazine beside me, and wondering what the hell to do for Graphics. Being a Graphics pupil, I am supposed to re-design a logo. And being a huge fan of music, it's kind of obvious what logo I've decided on -  MTV. But, I am stuck. It's like a puzzle. I don't know where the pieces fit. Re-designing logo's are harder than you'd imagine. And having to fill two A3 pages from my sketchbook, it's pretty hard! And that's not only the problem, considering Graphics is involved with a laptop/computer, it's easy to get distracted. I always 'somehow' end up on YouTube, Blogger or the iTunes Store, and I never get my homework done in time. Yep, life sucks. You're now probably wondering what this post has got to do with music, right? Well, my teacher once told me personally, that music inspires you into drawing, sketching, designing or whatever. And I do believe her, but maybe I'm not normal, because I get so lost into the music, I end up day-dreaming of my love life, or how amazing seeing that band live would be. But, one band really does help inspire me - You Me At Six. Especially their second album, 'Hold Me Down.' I don't know what it is with this album, but the lyrics aren't too emotional, so I don't end up day dreaming. The beat keeps me going.

So, if you're an Art or Graphics student, who might be stuck on what to do with their work, listen to 'Hold Me Down,' either on iTunes, or there's a preview of the full album on YouTube. The video's down below, if you can't find it. And who knows? You might've found yourselves a new favourite band guys! The best song in the track, has to be 'Trophy Eyes,' or 'Underdog.' The soft ballad in this album, is 'Fireworks.' And my gosh, what a song. So emotional. So I try not to listen to this during the first tracks. I honestly love this album. You Me At Six were the band that brought me to the world of Rock music, so I love them dearly for that reason. They changed my life, the way I looked at things. I'm no longer the scared little girl, who was too afraid to show who she really is, I'm confident about myself. My personality. My looks, I don't care what people think of me. As long as you've got a loving family, and great friends, and that one best friend to share everything with, you're doing great, right? Most people would add, 'the boy you love,' to that list, but personally, I don't think having a boyfriend/girlfriend affects showing who you really are. You have to be yourself in order to find that one person who'll love you back, for who you are and not for who you want to be. Myself, for example, a boy likes me at school, and I like him back, but we're both the shyest people ever when it comes to expressing our feelings towards one another in front of other people. But, that's us, that's how we are. And we've liked each other for around 4-5 years, I know, loooooooong time, but yeah, that's us. So, be yourself, and you'll find the one. You'll find your-true-self. I promise.

A Little Over The Top.

Ok, having being a lucky git today, after spending my day in Cardiff shopping, mostly in HMV, River Island, & Starbucks, (everyone has to have a coffee break, right?), I bought 5 CD's. Yes, you read correctly, 5 CD's in HMV. The 'two for £10,' offer gets me too excited for my own good. But, 5 CD's for me is nothing compared to my maximum of 10 CD's all in one go, so I did pretty well today, even though Mum had to stop me from picking other CD's up from that magnificent aisle. I'm guessing you want to know what CD's I bought, right? No? Well, I'm going to tell you anyway, as it is my blog after all, right?

Ok, so the first CD I picked up was, 'The Killers - Sam's Town.' Now, The Killers are one of my all time favourite bands, not only because Brandon Flowers is the love of my life, but also because of their unusual rock n' roll music. I have not yet heard all the album, as I've just got back from Cardiff, but it's progressing, and I'm now on track 6, 'Read My Mind,' which is fucking fab, if you're asking me! I own 3 of The Killers' album at the moment, their brand new album will be in my arms on my birthday, and Brandon Flowers' CD will be mine this Christmas. 24 DAYS TO GO. Anyway, I have not yet persuaded my parents to let me see them live next year, as they do cost quite a bit, per person. And me & my friend are desperate to see them live. Yep, I admitt it, I would like to see a lot of bands live, but The Killers are the only band my parents would let me watch, or You Me At Six, because of their lack in swearing in their CD's. Anyway, 'Sam's Town' is now synced into my iPod Nano, ready to be listened to every morning on the bus to school.

The second CD I picked up was 'Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More.' Mumford & Sons aren't exactly my cup of tea, but having listened to them on MTV Rocks, and on YouTube, I have to admit, some of their songs send shivers down my back. 'The Cave,' 'Sigh No More,' and 'Little Lion Man,' are some of the greatest songs I've heard, and they all have a story behind them. I have not yet listened to the album yet, but once I do, I'll let you all know my opinion on it. Plan!

Ok, as me & my friends decided to do Secret Santa this year, I picked my friend's name from the box, and she did ask me for 'Fun.'s CD, so as it was a chart CD, and the chart CD's were 'Two for £15,' I decided to buy another CD to get the full price of this wonderful deal, and there was one solution. JAKE BUGG. Yep, Jake Bugg's CD is now in my rack, and synced into iTunes, & my iPod Nano, very exciting stuff guys. Not only is he one of the most gorgeous 18 year old's in this whole universe, his voice, oh his voice, is so relaxing, and the lyrics describe my life so much. I know I say this all the time, but he truly is an inspiration to many young adults, and teenagers. As Jake said himself, 'I'm keeping that X Factor shit off the top spot.' Let's see if that works out, which I'm sure it will.

The last CD I got off the rack, was The Script's new CD for my little sister for Christmas. She seriously loves this band. I'm not too fond of them myself, but everyone has different opinion's on things. Now, obviously, I haven't listened to this CD, as it's wrapped up in gold wrapping paper ready for the big day. The only song I like from this band is 'For The First Time,' once this came out, I instantly fell in love with it. The lyrics, and his voice, wow. I'm sure my sister will love this present, and she honestly deserves it. We fight, we argue, we say horrible things to each other, even though we don't mean it, but I do really love her. And she's not only a sister to me, but a best friend. And at the end of the day, we tell each other everything, and the least I could do is get her a great present which she'd love.

So, as you're probably guessing, I spent a whole hour in HMV today, and I would've been a lot longer, but I got dragged out, which was such a depressing moment. But, whenever you pass this shop, make sure that you nip in for a quick look, & you might get inspired by these amazing offers, and try not to be like me, buying all the CD's I want before Christmas, or you'll be sad on the day with nothing to open. But, yeah, LIVE FAST & DIE YOUNG. xo

Chill, it's the weekend & 38 Days To Go!

From this week, I honestly can say that I am so glad it's the weekend. It's been such a frustrating week for me at school, dealing with stress, the homework, deadlines, controlled assessments, and to top it all off - heartbreak. That's it, a guy broke my heart earlier this week, and left me collapsing onto the floor cuddling my dog with tears flooding down my cheeks without intentions to do so. I know, I'm really soppy. They say 'the school days are the best days of your life,' ahahahahahahahahahahaha, not really. So now, I'm sat here at 6:00pm on Friday night, writing this blog while listening to The Killers' album 'Hot Fuss,' and Paranormal Activity's on telly with me, (I love scary movies,) and trying to forget the disastrous week I've had, and hoping no week will ever be like this again.

You're probably wondering what this post has to do with music, but as you all know, 38 days 'till Christmas guys! Omfg, can I be anymore excited? I've already asked the parents what I would like for Christmas, and hoping to go shopping for it next week. Excitement is taking over the heartbreak. My 8 year old iPod has sadly crashed, not willing to play songs, and only the right earphone works, yay. So, obviously an iPod is first on my list, along with a Wii Fit or a Kindle, decisions decisions. My fitness is improving, after 5 months of 30 minutes on the bike every single night and running every single night, and the once-a-week-gym sessions. So, I think I'll give the Wii Fit a miss. Anyway, while I'm blabbing on about what I want for Christmas, what are the greatest Christmas songs ever created? Wham!'s 'Last Christmas?' Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You?' Or Bing Crosby's 'White Christmas?' Well, it's festive season and it's about time we start listening to these beauty songs to put us in a great jolly mood. If I were the one choosing my Top 10 Christmas songs, it would go a little like this :-

1.All I Want For Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey
2. Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer
3. I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday - Wizzard
4. Santa Clause Is Coming To Town
5. Do They Know It's Christmas - Band Aid
6. Grandma Got Run Over By Reindeer - Elmo & Patsy
7. Wham! - Last Christmas
8. Santa Baby -  Eartha Kitt
9. Jingle Bells
10. Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree - Dion

I'm getting into the festive spirit already. Me & my friends have decided to do secret santa this year & to spend £25 on that individual. I haven't started shopping yet. Yep, so organised I am. But, I'm sure I'll start when December comes peeking around the corner. If you want my advice, don't leave everything to the last minute as I always do. But, anyway, get too excited, annoy your classmates, scream the place down with anger & frustration, and remember 38 DAYS TO GO!
